Horse riding with Cortijo los Lobos
Our horses all live together in a family group and we try to make their living conditions as natural possible – the happiness of our horses is very important to us – we believe in our horses comfort and well being at all times. As a lot of our horses are rescue horses, we try to give them as calm and stress free a life as we can, to make up for their past traumas. We train with kindness and do not use whips. All of our horses are bare foot and ridden in bitless bridles – but don’t worry – this has only improved their behaviour. We have open fields, cool shady pine forests, olive groves and streams. For any of you who are nervous of heights, don’t worry, there are no very steep, narrow mountain paths, all the tracks are wide and we don’t ride on roads, (with the odd exception of a quiet country road if it links one track to another). We cater for all abilities and you choose the speed you are comfortable with. Our horses are kind and sure footed and we will ensure that we find the right horse for you and your requirements.
All kinds of adventure activities. Hiking, mountain biking, canyoning, kayaking and 4x4 jeep trails in theTejeda Natural Park, Almijara and Alhama, with peaks reaching over 2000 meters, and the Natural Park with magnificent cliffs in Maro and Cerro Gordo.
Book a holistic or Tui Na Massage
Sue offers two types of massage:
- One is a relaxing holistic massage with oil.
- The other is Tui na. This is a therapeutic Chinese acupressure massage done over light cotton clothing. It's more of a medical massage and can be quite strong. It works at unblocking meridians and moving energy, whilst being relaxing and invigorating. It's very popular in yoga retreats
- Charges: 55 euros per massage.
Sailing and tennis at Hotel Vinuela
An excellent spot for lunch or supper on the lakeside terrace with magnificent views, or a cocktail at sundown watching the sun set over the water.
Guided walks with Poppy
Poppy can take you for a beautiful undemanding stroll, an energetic morning hike or a full day’s expedition. All age groups welcome and she loves to explore with children too! Routes include walking high on the plateau on the old railway track that used to run from Granada to Malaga, where a stop for a cool drink at a pretty hilltop bar might be on the cards. Or through olive and almond groves along the local country tracks.
Poppy knows the local countryside like the back of her hand … and has some wonderful ideas for exploring the best the area has to offer.
Arabic-Turkish Cave baths El Ventorro
“Pure heaven! For 16 euros you can get entry to the baths and for an extra 15 to 30 euros you can add a massage. (on Tuesdays admission to the baths are half price). There is a large pool in the centre, and hot and cold tubs tucked away on the side. The best part is the steam room that smells of herbs. The baths are closed for siesta between 1:30 and 5, but this provides the perfect opportunity to eat at the restaurant, known for their grilled fish and meats. The iberican pork and grilled sea bass won't disappoint. Their soups are also fantastic. Try a tinto de verano con limon, a drink made of red wine and lemon soda - delicious!!”
